Dear Colin. Our demand is for decentralisation of democratic institutions for use of land and right to land, to the third tier (not central level (Delhi), not state level (Bangalore) but consensus based gram sabha and town ward committee level as envisaged by the 73rd Amendment to the Indian constitution. This is not possible under carbon capitalism (see timothy mitchell carbon democracy 2009)where as far as the core countries are concerned “the material basis for participation in the consensus of liberal-democratic government is one’s pre-emptive, consumption-based consent to the pinning of global trade and collective finance zones to private energy interests.” (Sophie Lewis).cheers. for Anandi
